Introduction
Imam Khomeini and Islamic Revolution Research Institute, affiliated to the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of the Works of Imam Khomeini, was established in 1996 based on an agreement in principle of the Iranian Council to Develop Higher Education affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to conduct research and train researchers on Imam Khomeini's life, thoughts and code of conduct and to introduce his viewpoints and the Islamic Revolution in various scientific circles inside and outside the country. The Articles of Association (Statute) of the institute has been already approved at the ministry.
Mission
According to its Statute, Imam Khomeini and Islamic Revolution Research Institute acts based on the scientific and research rules and regulations of the higher education system of the Islamic Republic of Iran to fulfill the following:
1- Carrying out basic and applied research on Imam Khomeini's views and thoughts, studying the Islamic Revolution and related courses
2- Rendering consulting services on requested research programs
3- Carrying out required activities in line with applying the findings of the research works
4- Providing required facilities concomitant with the research programs and plans
5- Studying, identifying and meeting the research demands of service and executive sectors
6- Establishing active and constructive relations with other scientific and research institutes and bodies inside and outside the Islamic Republic of Iran according to the pertinent rules and regulations
7- Establishing desirable and well-coordinated relations with authorized specialists and innovators working at the scientific and research centers of the country
8- Making use of the latest findings and scientific advancements in all stages of research in line with promoting the goals of the institute
9- Organizing academic conferences on national and international levels in partnership and cooperation with other research and educational institutes on the subjects associated with the goals of the institute
10- Collecting documents and academic data for study and research related to various activities of the institute
11- Authoring and translation of texts and works as well as academic and research periodicals in accordance with the objectives of the institute
12- Opening academic courses and admitting students
